Porsche Taycan Lands In Australia, Priced From A$191,000 To A$339,100

The Porsche Taycan has finally landed in Australia, quite some time after launching throughout Europe and North America.

Like other markets, Australia will receive the Taycan in 4S, Turbo, and Turbo S forms. Driving the base Taycan 4S is a 79.2 kWh battery pack that uses a pair of electric motors to deliver 429 hp and 472 lb-ft (640 Nm) of torque.

Available with the 4S is the Performance Battery Plus package that increases battery capacity to 93.4 kWh with horsepower and torque jumping to 482 hp and 479 lb-ft (650), and up to 563 hp with Overboost and launch control enabled. The 4S is good for 0-100 km/h (62 mph) in 4.0 seconds and a 250 km/h (155 mph) top speed and has a range of 414 km (257 miles) with the Performance Battery Plus package.

Meanwhile, the Taycan Turbo and Turbo S are both rated at 616 hp and also use a 93.4 kWh battery pack. Where they differ is that, with Overboost, the Turbo is capped at 671 hp while the Turbo S has been tuned to muster up 750 hp. Porsche quotes a 0-100 km/h (62 mph) time of 3.2 seconds for the Taycan Turbo and 2.8 seconds for the Turbo S.

Australia’s charging network lags behind many countries, but all local Taycan buyers will receive a complimentary three-year subscription to the local Chargefox Ultra-Rapid DC charging network. Moreover, all Taycan models sold include a Mobile Charger that is installed at the owners’ homes.

Luxury cars are traditionally quite expensive in Australia and it is no different with the Taycan. Pricing for the entry-level 4S kicks off from AU$191,000 (US$132,735) while the Turbo starts at AU$269,100 (US$187,011), and the Turbo S at AU$339,100 (US$235,657). Deliveries will start in December.
