Bentley To Unveil Ultra-Exclusive Mulliner Model Later This Year

Bentley’s Mulliner division is known for creating limited editions such as the Continental GTC Bavaria Edition, but it appears they’re working on something even more exclusive.

According to Autocar, Mulliner has developed an ultra-exclusive model that will be limited to 10 units and cost more than $1.3 (£1 / €1.1) million. That’s significantly more than a standard Bentley and the brand reportedly hopes this will help to elevate and distinguish the Mulliner name.

Little is known about the model, but it could draw inspiration from Bentley’s heritage like the Mulsanne W.O. Edition. That particular model was introduced last summer and featured dark stain burr walnut trim, a cocktail cabinet and pieces of a crankshaft used in Walter Owen’s personal Bentley.

There’s no word on what the model will be based on, but the publication spoke to Bentley design director Stefan Sielaff who confirmed it will be introduced later this year. He went on to say the rich are getting richer and they’re increasingly asking about building a one-off model.

Sielaff didn’t go into specifics about the upcoming limited edition, but said “We have to deal with [one-offs] very carefully, but I think this is a trend, it’s not only Bentley.” He went on to say the car will be “under the remit of Mulliner Coachbuilding, sitting on top of Bentley, and will definitely be something more expensive than a normal Bentley.”

One-off models appear to be growing in popularity as Rolls-Royce unveiled the Sweptail in 2017 and Bugatti introduced the La Voiture Noire earlier this year. Ferrari also has a long history of building one-offs including everything from the track-only P80/C to Eric Clapton’s SP12 EC.
